Nero Burning ROM
Nero Burning ROM 6 hasn’t really changed a lot compared to version
5.5. The program has undergone some style changes and is now fully integrated
with Nero Express. The wizard function has been removed and has been replaced
with a Nero Express button:

After setting up a new compilation (which works exactly the same as before) we can see the new Nero look:

As you can see the taskbar has also undergone some changes. From left to right we have the following options:
- New compilation
- Open an existing compilation
- Save active compilation
- Cut selection (and place it on clipboard)
- Copy selection (and place it on clipboard)
- Insert contents of clipboard
- Start Nero Cover Designer
- Start Nero Express
- Burn current compilation
- Create a copy of a disc
- Display disc info
- Eject the disc
- Switch file browser window on or off
- Recorder selection
- Choose recorder
When burning a compilation a full screen window will replace the Nero Burning ROM window where you can see the write process. Notice that the taskbar is still visible in the burn window and you can also still use it to set-up a new compilation while the current one is being burned:

If you look closely at the screenshots you can see that the current write speed is displayed (this also worked in Nero 5.5 but you needed to enable it in the Windows registry). The estimated remaining time of the write process is also displayed in this new Nero version.
Nero Express 6:
As said at the beginning of this page Nero Express 6 is now fully integrated into Nero Burning ROM. Nero Express still works in the same way as before and is aimed at beginners. Nero Express doesn’t have all the options that Nero Burning ROM has but it supports the most basic tasks:

Nero Express

Nero Express of course supports both CD and DVD tasks. When you select a CD-recorder you will only see tasks related to CD burning and vice versa, when you select a DVD-recorder you will only see tasks that are related to DVD burning. Since a DVD-recorder can also record to CDs you can select two types here:
