Hitachi has announced its new family of CinemaStar 2.5" hard disks for set-top boxes such as DVRs, Satellite/Cable PVRs, including traditional and ultra-slim models. According to researchers at TrendFocus, a 128GB SSD still accounts for roughly 25% of the BOM (build of materials) cost of an Ultrabook. Appeals court rules Fifth Amendment applies to hard drive decryption (8)
On Thursday the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals overturned a Florida contempt of court charge against a suspect in a child pornography case. In that case the defendant refused to decrypt the contents of several encrypted hard drives.
