released any official information about the GSA-4160B yet the bulk version of
this 16x DVD writer has already showed up in "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /> w:st="on">Japan now. The
only thing that looks to have changed in the specifications compared to the
existing GSA-4120B is the increased write speed of DVD+R to 16x from
12x.

Probably it's just a 4120 with a different firmware. I hope someone will find a way to flash 4160 firmware in a 4120...

The lack of 16X DVD-R support is disappointing. We'll probably see a newer drive with this feature from them very soon.

That happened with LG's 8x DVD writer. LG'll soon release another model with 16x DVD-R and 4x DVD+R DL. The price in Japan's simply not correct. 15,000 Yen is TWO TIMES as much as the price of GSA-4120B in Japan. It's so high only because very few has made it to the retail market. Soon, it'll become as cheap as many 8x DVD writers today. It'll be interesting to see whether GSA-4160B can write to YUDEN000T02 at 16x.

Without tax, a Tokyo shop sells GSA-4160B for approximately US$120.
