Will older (relatively speaking, of course) HD DVD players be able to play these 3-layer discs?

This is exactly why I am waiting before buying HDDVD or Bluray. Hopefully, after a few years, the market will settle and the format/s are locked in. That way, my odds of getting burnt are limited.

Older HD DVD players will not be able to play these discs, which is a shame. Unless they can do it with a firmware release but i doubt it.
