A patch for Office 2013 released during Microsoft last Patch Tuesday causes Word to become unusable. Many users on the internet report issues with Word part of Office 2013 after they've installed the updates Microsoft released on the 9th of February this year.
Those updates were part of the latest episode in Microsoft's regular patch sequence. After they are installed Word becomes so unresponsive that it's impossible to work with it. Users complain that pressing a key or clicking a mouse button can take up to 30 seconds to have some effect.
The culprit appears to be KB3114717 which can be uninstalled through the Control Panel in case your Office 2013 installation suffers from the issue.
