Complaints of overheating iPhone 3GS units continue to light the Internet ablaze, though Apple still has sidestepped much of the talk of any major flaws with the physical design of the phone.
Since its release last month on June 19, sales numbers have been extremely popular, despite several prominent hardware and software issues.
The company posted a Web page telling users how to avoid overheating iPhone 3GS handsets, but instead of admitting there is a possible hardware issue, the company has cleverly deflected blame towards phone owners. Journalists and iPhone owners believe using GPS for extended periods of time, or playing video games, among other popular uses for the phone, may cause the overheating.

This CIO article, then posted on PC World, shows several other complaints of the iPhone 3GS, but has an obvious tone of disappointment that Apple hasn’t admitted its mistake and made changes. Along with overheating phones, disappointing battery life and the presence of an SMS vulnerability also has left some bloggers unhappy.
I realize Apple isn’t best known for publicly admitting if something has gone wrong, but it’s unlikely an overheating phone will stop most people from purchasing the popular phone. Although the number of people complaining of an overheating iPhone 3GS continues to increase, it’s still just a small handful of phone owners who’ve had issues.

I was ready to jump on the iPhone bandwagon the day I read about the overheating problem. I decided not to buy one because of problems I had read about, specifically the over-heating. I will not consider buying one until Apple addresses the issue, whether its a hardware or software problem, or until they prove its a non issue.
I certainly am not buying a phone that may end up needing a recall or replacement.
