Plextor has just announced the introduction of a pocket-sized external hard disk. The PX-PPH120U weighs 90g and goes in the books as one of the world’s smallest 1.8-inch drives.
According to Plextor’s press release the HDD enables home and business users to carry and share important data with them anywhere. By offering this new HDD, that has the size of a bank card, Plextor tries to reach those that find memory sticks too limiting.
By offering storage capacities of up to 120GB Plextor manages to combine a small size with a bigger storage capacity.

"The Plextor Pocket HDDs are incredibly useful, offering much more scope than memory sticks with the footprint of a credit card. The fast USB transfer is ideal for transporting multimedia and data files," says Rudy de Meirsman, Sales & Marketing Manager at Plextor Europe.
You can test whether the size of the HDD is really that of a bank card by simply comparing the following statistics to your bank card’s measurements. The PX-PPH120U is 12mm thick, 90mm long and 62mm wide.
It features USB 2.0 data transfer and is compatible with both PC and Mac users. Plextor’s new small HDDs will be available from mid of December 2008.
