It has been a while since we reviewed a slimline portable DVD-writer, but today we are proud to present a mini-review of one of Lite-On's latest slimline portable DVD-Writers, the Lite-On SLW-831SX. This writer features 8x DVD±R, 4x DVD±RW and 2.4x DVD+R DL write speed. The writer is 24.37mm in height, features high efficient power saving modes and connects up by USB2.0.
Our reviewer Jan70 has put this drive through its paces with his fairly extensive DVD±R/RW read, write and quality tests. For this mini-review, no quality scans of CD-R/RW or advanced tests have been carried out.

The retail package comes complete with a power supply, USB2.0 cable, CyberLink PowerDVD 6 and Nero's OEM suite CD (with Nero Express 6.6). Unlike most laptop optical drive bays, this slim-line drive features a loading slot.
