CD Freaks presents the LG GBW-H10N 4x Blu-ray drive review

Today CD Freaks is proud to present a review of the world's first 4x Blu-ray writer, the LG GBW-H10N Super Multi Blue, which LG USA kindly provided us for review.  With an improved write speed of 4x to BD-R media, the drive can write 25GB of data in about 22 minutes.  Other features include 2x BD-RE (rewritable Blu-ray media), 8x/6x DVD+RW/-RW, 5x DVD-RAM, 4x DVD±R DL and 12x DVD±R, quicker DVD write performance than most other Blu-ray writers.

The drive includes Power DVD Blu-ray playback software, which requires a minimum of a Pentium D 3.2GHz or equivalent, Windows XP SP2, 1GB of RAM and an AACS compliant graphics card.  High Resolution playback does not require a HDCP compliant display when connected via VGA, however for a HDMI or DVI connection, both the graphics card and display must be HDCP compliant to play copy protected pre-recorded Blu-ray media.

Our review coordinator Zevi has carried out the in-depth review, including Blu-ray disc read & write performance tests, examples of what happens if one attempts to play a Blu-ray movie with DVI without HDCP compliant hardware and so on.  To see how these tests turn out, please head over to the review here.  If you have any questions or comments about the review, feel free to discuss them in this forum thread.
