Panasonic has announced its first Blu-ray player in Australia since Toshiba threw in the towel. The DMP-BD30 will show how the consumers think of an HD DVD-free product… Panasonic’s newest Blu-ray player will output in 1080p/24p and adds Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD and Final Standard Profile for the first time.
The DMP-BD30’s Final Standard Profile makes it possible to use Blu-ray 1.1 features like audio mixing and other types of bonus content. A new image processing technology that’s added to the product, upsamples colour information to help reproduce colours closer to the original movie.
A new HDMI 1.3 port makes it possible to output Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Audio in bitstream form. Panasonic states that if used in combination with a compatible AV-receiver, the resulting audio will be of ’studio-master-quality’. Of course the player comes with an integrated SD Memory Card slot and VIERA Link.
So, the DMP-BD30 will be available from March… What do you think? A waste of money, or is this the player to spend your hard-earned cash on?

Now it would be a great time to make a really FINAL version and lower the hw/media prices a lot, otherwise I suppose their 'victory' won't be worth that much... :r
