The world's largest chipmaker, Intel, is to acquire Xircom, the developer of wireless communications products, for around $748 million.
Xircom manufactures PC cards and other products that are used to connect notebook PCs to the Internet and coporate networks via wireless connections.
The deal marks Intel's expansion to the communication equipment market
