Yesterday we have released CD Freaks BurnStats to our website. This in cooperation with VSO-Software. The statistics are based on ten millions of installs of the VSO burn engine and we have compared this with statistics that can be purchased for thousands of dollars and surveys we’ve done by asking our visitors. From this we have learned that the data is reliable.
For the month of February the statistics are currently available and show some intresting data. By far LG drives are most used. This can be explained by the fact that LG can be found in products of a lot of system builders (such as Dell).
| 1 | LG | 27.56% | ||
| 2 | TSST Corp | 14.00% | ||
| 3 | Pioneer | 8.23% | ||
| 4 | NEC | 7.40% | ||
| 5 | LITE-ON | 7.08% | ||
| 6 | Sony | 6.81% | ||
| 7 | Optiarc | 4.87% | ||
| 8 | Philips | 3.95% | ||
| 9 | Matshita | 3.75% | ||
| 10 | HP | 3.20% |
Besides a marketshare of nearly 28% the company also tops the lists of most used burners with it’s GSA-4167B GSA-H55N and GSA-4163B models all in the top 5.
Intresting from the Stats is also that DVD-R is currently much more used than DVD+R where DVD+RW and DVD+R DL are much more used than DVD-RW and DVD-R DL.
Taiyo Yuden MID codes are in the top 3 of most succesful media identification codes which was probably not unexpected for most CD Freaks visitors. Altough often faked they appear not to suffer from this.
Although scoring very well on success, Taiyo Yuden has a relative low marketshare. Tawainese manufacturer CMC holds the largest market share with nearly 21% of the market taken.
More information can be found on the CD Freaks BurnStats page, we love to hear what you think of this!
