This week LG Electronics showcased their new LG BD300 Network Blu-ray player and HDTVs at the Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association (CEDIA) EXPO 2008. LG’s BD300 will be the world’s first Blu-ray player that streams movies from Netflix and is available this fall. This way LG offers consumers a new approach to home entertainment. More than 12,000 movies will be available for streaming and immediate playback.
Besides the streaming Blu-ray player LG will also introduce several high-definition LCDs and plasmas. An interesting technology is called ‘Intelligent Sensor’ and can be found in LG’s new LCD HDTV line. This technology easily adjusts the contrast settings based on the calculated lightning conditions in the room.
Other technologies like Intelligent Sensor already exist, but still LG’s version is expected to be different since it also evaluates the light’s color characteristics and uses this data to adjust brightness. Other similar technologies only calculate the brightness of ambient light.
