OCZ has launched its new line of CrossOver USB drives, a range of USB flash drives that have microSD card adaptors built directly into the key.

The CrossOver has a dark grey aluminum casing, with the microSD slot hidden well in the bottom of the flash drive.

"With the proliferation of smart phones and MP3 players, the demand for microSD and microSDHC and the ability to easily transfer content to these cards has significantly increased," said Alex Mei, OCZ CMO.

The OCZ CrossOver line starts with 2GB, 4GB and 8GB drives, with others expected in the future.

The ability to leave the microSD reader at home means owners have one less thing to worry about when they take their USB key on the go.  Manufacturers have shown a greater interest in creating USB flash keys with integrated microSD reader.  Silicon Power launched a line of USB keys that also have microSD adaptors built directly into the key.

The declining price of flash technology has led manufacturers to try and create unique USB keys that will be more noticeable and different than products from competitors.

CDFreaks recently published an article reporting Super Talent has launched a line of USB keys inspired by "The Godfather."  Each key ships with a unique Godfather image, along with quotes and images from the movie.

Good stuff.

I'll appreciate having a microSD slot to expand storage capacity on the USB key and when I forget my adaptor.

Actually one of the best innovative ideas I've seen for Flash Drives for a while.
