Japanese company I-O Data has announced a new 16x Super-Multi DVD writer based
on a Matsushita/Panasonic SW-9585. The drive supports writing 4x DVD±R DL, 16x
DVD±R, 8x DVD+RW, 6x DVD-RW, 5x DVD-RAM, 40x CD-R and 24x CD-RW. I-O Data’s
version, the DVR-ABM16A, will also support writing both single layer and double
layer DVD+R with DVD-ROM book type for max compatibility.

DVR-ABM16A at the end of January for 14600 Yen (about €110). A black model, the
