Our US review coordinator Zevi has got hold of TDK’s latest 25GB 6x BD-R and 50GB 6x BD-R DL media, which he analysed with his LG GGW-H20L and LG BE06LU11 Blu-ray drives.  These discs, branded as "TDK Life on Record" are claimed to be the first 6x Blu-ray discs on the US market, which reduce recording time to 17 minutes to burn a full 25GB BD-R.  To see what info could be extracted from each using Nero DiscSpeed and DVD Identifier on both drives, have a look at this thread.  Some further testing including write / read tests will come later.

These discs feature Durabis 2 hard-coating technology for strong resistance to scratches, fingerprints and dust and an inorganic double-layer metal recording structure that is more resistant to breakdown from light exposure.  TDK claims that the discs offer one of the highest compatibility ratings with Blu-ray recordable hardware.  They retail at a suggested retail price of $13.99 for a single BD-R and $32.99 for a single BD-R DL.

TDK has also let us know that they have launched their Blu-ray disc cleaning and storage accessories, which may make a nice Christmas gift for someone with a Blu-ray player or PC drive.   These are as follows:  "TDK Life on Record Opticloth for Blu-ray" – reusable micro-fibre cloths for safely cleaning Blu-ray media, "TDK Life on Record Blu-ray Clean Cloths" – disposable non-abrasive cloths for safely removing dust, dirt and oil from Blu-ray disc surfaces, "TDK Life on Record Blu-ray Player Laser Lens Cleaner" – a Blu-ray specific cleaning disc to maintain and clean Blu-ray players and "TDK  Life on Record Blu-ray Tyvek Sleeves" – Tyvek scratch-resistant sleeves for easy storing of Blu-ray discs.  These accessories will be available in the shops this month.

Some further information including photos can be viewed on our forum in this thread.
