Samsung’s 2009 CES HDTV lineup leaked

As more companies begin final product preparations leading up to the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) next month, we’re learning more about what companies plan to show off during the show. Samsung, which is expected to show off OLED technology, has a slew of other products it will release during the show in a bit more than a week.

The Korean company will unveil several new TVs in the Series 3 through Series 7 HDTVs, according to a recent post on AVForums. One new 3-series TV, three 4-series TVs, two 4-series models, four 6-series TVs, and one new 7-series TV are expected to be revealed during the show.

The new TVs are expected to have a Flash-based user manual, sound and picture issue diagnosis technology, and other new features. It’s possible Yahoo Widgets will also find its way to Samsung TVs in 2009, as the new technology aims to give TV viewers an added level of connectivity with the content they watch.

Everything Samsung announces during CES 2009 should be available for retail sale in the first half of the year.

Samsung has put more effort into developing screen technology that can be used in HDTVs and mobile phones. In November, the company showed off a new flexible OLED display that will be used in upcoming Samsung mobile phones. It also recognized that OLED prices are still too high for widestream adoption, but reportedly created a technology that will help lower the cost of OLED production in the coming years.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Samsung has to offer during CES. I've watched the company's OLED business closely, and will enjoy seeing some snazzy new HDTVs.

I bought a new SAMSUNG Lcd 40" tv today 02/01/2009 but as I'm a bit of a technophobe I have no idea as to the jargon you may be referring to. All I know is that I got what I wanted a bigger tv.

Im currently using a 65" in my living room which is based on the old CRT Projection technology.. To get something similar in Plasma or LCD its going to cost me over $4000.. DLP, while cheaper, doesnt have the brightness or the viewing angle that my current TV offers..

65" projection CRT?!? I hope it's sitting on a slab, or you added support under the floor...

LOL.. Yea, at 330lbs its not exactly light.. When I moved into my house, it took 5 guys and myself to get it up the stairs on my raised ranch style home.. Im not looking forward to getting rid of, not because I love it, but because of getting it out the house and finally junking it..

Heres the model if your curious: Sony KP-65WV700

Im junking it because its acting up and I dont know how much more life Im going to get out of it.. It occassionally flashes green and then shuts off leaving me to believe the green CRT gun is going bad.. Its not so bad right now, but when it goes, its going to need to be replaced.. Replacement of the gun requires it to be removed and sent out to be rebuilt so your looking at a downtime of at least 2-3 weeks.. Nevermind the cost for the repair guy to come two times and the cost of the rebuild.. The set is about 6 years old so it would hardly be worth it..

from blackbeauty, well surely the cost of a repair would work out considerably a whole lot cheaper than to buy another set ? Or are you that well off it doesn't really matter? Do you not have it insured? I imagine the initial cost of this tv was a very pretty penny (so to speak) I can live without tv it doesn't rule my life, I have just returned from a break in Gran Canaria and I had no tv at all.

The set is over 6 years old and the 5 year extended warranty expired. With two young kids running around, I doubt I can deal with the down time the repair will take.. This also has nothing to do with money, in fact repairing the set doesnt guarantee something else wont go wrong with it down the road.. Its more practical to look at alternatives rather than making a repair that may or may not fix the problem.. These sets arent exactly cheap to fix and parts are very scarce, which is why the gun would need to be rebuilt rather than replaced with a brand new one..

Like I said, Im holding out till it finally goes.. Hopefully by then the choices for something in the 60"+ range will be a bit more plentful and the prices a bit cheaper..
