Following SlySoft’s recent take over of Game Jackal, Slysoft has released the product as Game Jackal Pro, which is now developed and sold by SlySoft. For those new to Game Jackal, it works much like how SlySoft’s AnyDVD packages overcomes copy-protection on DVDs for ease of backing up, but instead Game Jackal does this for CD-ROMs, particularly game CDs where many games require the original disc to be loaded to play. Besides backing up CD-ROMs, the package features emulation to allow these applications to be run without the original disc, thus extending the life of the discs as well as avoiding the need of having to take them on the move.
To help control young users from playing unsuitable games or limit their time playing games, Game Jackal also features Guardian control to password protect the launching of games, such as for specific users and to set up a time limit or time period that certain games are allowed to be run. This SlySoft version also adds some extra features such as one-click profile creation, profile archival, a plug-in interface, improved reliability, support and performance for newer games and hardware, image mode for games that stream data during play, easy to use interface, automatic updates and various other features.
