Ouch! Maybe one of our visitors that speaks Japanese can give us a better translation. Looks like they are talking about the model with the 20 gigabyte hard disc drive. At any rate, this is interesting news indeed! Especially, if we could expect to see these prices in other countries as well. Originally, we all thought the PS3 would be more like $500-$600 US depending on the hard disc etc., and even at those prices, Sony was reportedly taking a huge loss per unit. Time will tell I suppose. If it comes to pass, you would be out of your mind to purchase a Blu-ray player other than the PS3. The present Blu-ray players are ~$1000 US and do not have HDMI 1.3 which really makes it a more future proof device, as it can carry much more audio and video information than the present spec. With the money you save on the PS3, you can buy an HDMI cable! (not included) 😉
