TMPGEnc v2.521.58.169 has been released

H-EvA-K used our news submit to tell us that a new version of TMPGEnc has been
released. TMPGEnc is a powerful MPEG 1 & 2 encoder which can encode from a wide range of video formats to MPEG.  Its encoder is very customisable and has several presets for encoding to Video CD, Super VCD and DVD compliant MPEG files.  TMPGEnc is considered by many as the best MPEG1 encoder available.  Other features include MPEG1 & 2 tools such as splitting and merging MPEG files as well as multiplexing and demultiplexing MPEG audio & video streams.  Finally, TMPGEnc is capable of exporting to an AVI file.

Changelog to TMPGEnc v2.521.58.169:

Improved :

  • The new version of "CRI sofdec MPEG decoder" is included. Now, it is possible to open a maximum of 20 sequences instead of 8.
  • In the project wizzard, for the setting concerning the bitrate, the file size in MB will be shown instead of the duration for "CD-R 74min (VCD/SVCD)" and for"CD-R 80min (VCD/SVCD)".
  • When error occurs during "Prefetch Video", the details will be shown.
  • When using "DirectShow Multimedia Reader", from now on only Linear PCM, 8/16 bit, 1/2 will be accepted for the audio input.

Fixed :

  • When "CRI sofdec MPEG decoder" was chosen in the VFAPI plugin, errors could occur to open sequence files via "DirectShow Multimedia File Reader"
  • Problem occuring when using an external MP2/MP3 encoder. For certain settings, the CRC value or the error protection could be changed .
  • When the audio was re-sampled in high quality mode, if the input was monoral, errors could occur.
  • During the encoding, some "Drag and drop" files could be accepted from the Explorer.

TMPGEnc comes
in two versions '“ A shareware version and a 'plus' version.  The shareware
version and plus version have the same features with the exception that the
MPEG2 encoder and MPEG2 tools in the shareware version expire 30 days after
installation.  The shareware version has unlimited MPEG1 encoding.
The early versions of free TMPGEnc use to have unlimited MPEG2 encoding, but due
to licensing issues, they now charge for the unlimited MPEG2 in their 'TMPGEnc
Plus' version.

TMPGEnc Plus costs $ 48 and TMPGEnc DVD Author
costs $ 68 although both can be purchased together for $ 99.  The retail
boxed version of TMPGEnc Plus can be purchased for $ 88. TMPGEnc is available for download here. TMPGEnc Plus and DVD Author can be purchased here.

To encode from an MPEG2 source file, you may need the VFAPI Plug-In with DVD2AVI as TMPGEnc does not have built in MPEG2 decoding capabilities.
