Toshiba announced its latest line-up of solid state drives, which includes a 2.5" 256GB SSD and several small size (50×30mm) SATA modules for ultra-mobile PCs such as netbooks. The 256GB SSD features an MLC controller with improved read/write performance, parallel read/write operations and wear levelling. Its read & write speeds are 120MB/s and 70MB/s respectively and connects by an SATA 3.0Gb/s interface.
Toshiba’s new series of small SATA flash modules feature read & write speeds of 80MB/s and 50MB/s respectively. These modules will be available in capacity choices of 8GB, 16GB and 32GB.
Samples of all these modules are currently available, with mass production set to take place in the 4th quarter of this year. So far no pricing information has been announced.

Hmm .. what are the random access transfer rates ? The sustained rates look a bit high and I doubt random access transfer rates will be much better than a 32GB module.
