Transcend rolls out 32GB 2.5-inch SATA Solid State Disk (SSD) (Press Release)

Transcend is very pleased to announce the arrival of its 32GB 2.5” SATA Solid State Disk (SSD). This new drive comes in a standard 2.5-inch size and has an SATA interface which means it can be used in most notebook computers and mainstream PCs just like a regular hard drive. Add to that a tough metal outer case, instant access speeds, large capacity, high reliability, low power consumption and anti-shock features, making it clear that Transcend’s SSDs are the ideal drop-in replacements for conventional Hard Disk Drives.

Transcend’s 2.5-inch SATA SSD series has a distinct advantage over standard 2.5” HDDs in that they are made of solid-state memory with no moving parts, and therefore not susceptible to mechanical failure resulting from vibration, shock, heat, etc. Its modern SATA interface delivers higher data transfer rates than standard IDE and ensures compatibility with today’s high performance notebook and desktop computers. Moreover, SATA cables are much thinner and more compact than IDE cables, which allows for less cluttered installations with better cooling from improved airflow.

Transcend’s 2.5-inch SATA SSD has the standard compact dimensions as normal 2.5” hard drives, but with a thickness of only 9.5mm, making it very easy to install in PCs and notebooks. In addition, the 2.5-inch SATA SSD has built-in ECC (Error Correction Code) functionality that ensures highly reliable data transfer and increases your system’s overall integrity. Built-in wear leveling technology also ensures ultra-long lifespan and data-retention durability for prolonged use. With no moving parts, absolutely no noise is generated from the SSD, and much less power is needed for operation, which means less heat is generated as well. The 2.5-inch SATA SSD is currently available in 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB capacities.

Product Features:

  • Fully compatible with SATA 1.0 compliant devices and Operating Systems
  • Non-volatile Flash Memory with wear-leveling for outstanding data retention
  • Built-in ECC (Error Correction Code) to ensure reliable data-transfer
  • 80% lower power consumption and less heat
  • Shock resistant
  • Silent operation (no moving parts)
  • RoHS compliant
