Traxdata announces dual layer DVD burner for June

Now that CeBIT is over, most
drive manufacturers concentrate on getting their dual layer DVD burners ready.
Traxdata is no exception as they announce their new Traxdata RW2510.

Manufacturer Traxdata wants to sell its DVD multiformat burner
RW2510 in June. The 8x drive will be ready to support dual layer media
with a capacity of 8.5 GB. Just like single layer recordables, these new
discs will be playable on current DVD players because of a reflexitivity
that is within the DVD specifications.

The RW2510 will write DVD+R and DVD-R within 8
minutes. Rewriting for both formats will be done at 4x. Dual layer discs
will be written at 2.4x.

The
recommended price for this IDE drive will be about 150 Euro (currently
about 180 $). The package will also contain IDE- and Audio-cables and the
burning software Pinnacle Instant
CD/DVD8.

As one recognizes from the name, this drive will probably be a
rebranded NEC ND-2510A. As the drive's hardware will be identical to the
ND-2500A, we are curious to find out wether it will be possible to apply a 2510A
firmware to the 2500A.

Meanwhile feel free to discuss this topic in our NEC Forum or support our moderator Herrie in his efforts to improve the current Firmware of this
drive in this thread.
