Verbatim recently introduced two new Quad Interface Desktop hard drives with storage capacities of 500GB and 1TB, as more companies begin to increase the storage capacities of external HDDs.
Both drives will support USB 2.0, Firewire 400, Firewire 800 and eSata II — and both drives will have 32MB of cache and will spin at 7,2000RPM.
"Our new 500GB and 1TB Desktop HDDs offer many advantages for editing and storing high-density applications, compared to using two or three smaller HDDs," according to Verbatim Director of Marketing Charles Klinker.
The two new drives will be shown off during the Macworld Expo in San Francisco, starting on Monday morning.
Both HDDs are shipping now. The 500GB HDD costs $179.99, and the 1TB model is shipping with an MSRP of $249.99.
As manufacturers continue to reach the 1TB HDD — both with internal and external drives — the price of the drives continues to decline, making them even more appealing to consumers.
