Verbatim Europe has announced that is making engineering samples of 8x DVD+R double layer available to burner/recorder manufacturers to help them developing and optimizing the performance of their devices. The company expects to ship the media to consumers in the third quarter of 2005.

Verbatim also added that 8x double layer (8.5 GB) burning means that the disc is burned in less then 15 minutes. More information can be found in the press release. Discuss double layer media in our Media Forum.
