A review of three free media players

Computer media players have become quite numerous over the last few years, but finding a free one that fits your needs may be something of a puzzle.  MyCE currently hosts many sub-forums for software companies, and we have a small selection of free media players from them you might want to consider.  Included in today's review are media players from VSO Software, DVDFab and Leawo.

One of the major considerations with media players is their ability to play Blu-ray format.  And in the near future, the players will  need to play the new HD Blu-ray format, using H265 and 4K video resolutions.  Its a bit soon to be concerned with 4K, since there is so little available with that type of video, but by this time next year,  many may be searching for better players that can work with it.  Finding a free 4K player, especially one that can handle encrypted discs, may be a quest without resolution.  But that is the future.  What about today?

I tested the three players, and have come to some conclusions.  You may not agree with those conclusions, or the capabilities that I have emphasized, but feel free to discuss the results in our forums.

You can read the review here, in our Video Editing Forum.
