Adata announces new topmodel SSD - XPG-SX920 series

Adata announced their latest topmodel SSDs at Computex in Taiwan, the SX920.  The drive is the successor of Adata's current top SSD, the SX910. The SX920 should be faster and has a different controller.

The controller of the new drive is the Marvell 88SS9187 but with Adata's own firmware. It's used to control the MLC NAND that is inside the drive. This ,emory is likely 19 nm MLC coming from the Toshiba factories. Performance wise the drive has specified sequential read speeds of up to 530 MB/s and 480 MB/s for sequential writes. Random writes of 4Kb blocks are specified at 80,000 IOPS.

The SX920 series will be available in three different capacities: 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB. The company has announced that all their SSDs would be 7 mm thin and this drive is no exception. Also the SX920 is 7 mm thin which makes it suitable for usage in Ultrabooks.

Adata didn't disclose a price and availability but we do know that the drive comes with a 3 year warranty.
