Adata announces SP920 SSDs, MLC NAND with Marvell controller

ADATA today announced their Premier Pro series SP920 solid state drive (SSD). The SP920 is equipped with the latest generation Marvell controller which combined with undisclosed MLC NAND and a SATA-3 interface is able to achieve maximum 4KB random read/write speeds of 98,000/88,000 IOPS.  Sequential reading and writing speeds are specified at a maximum of 560/500 MB/sec respectively.

The company explicitly notes that the SP920 maintains consistently high read and write speeds even when the disk is 90% full.  The drives will first be available in capacities of 128GB and 256GB, later 512GB and 1TB drives should become available

The SP920 makes full use of the NAND Flash chip capacity, resulting in a 7% increase in the usable space of the drive over many models currently on the market. The SSD comes with a 2.5mm holder, allowing the drive to be used in both 7mm and 9.5mm bays, as well as a 3.5” bracket adaptor for upgrading desktop computers. Purchasers also receive access to

ADATA’s  SSD Toolbox software which provides multiple ways to obtain disk information, change settings, and improve SSD lifespan and performance.

Adata has sent us the prices in pounds, the 128 GB has a MSRP of £67.90 ($113 / €82)  and 256GB drive of £120.90 ($201 /€145).
