After Apple now Samsung also supports adblock plugins in its mobile browser

The browser that Samsung installs by default on its smartphones now supports adblock plugins. Developers can now create a plugin for the browser of the Korean electronics giant that blocks advertisements, the first two plugins already appeared.

Samsung pre-installs its own browser on its Android devices, besides Google's Chrome browser which  doesn't support adblock plugins. The company is the second large phone manufacturer that makes it possible to block ads on a mobile platform. Last year Apple made it possible for developers to create adblockers for Safari on iOS 9.

The first two adblock plugins for Samsung's browsers are Adblock Fast and Crystal. Both claim to increase performance of websites because the advertisements are not loaded.

Adblockers are under fire from internet publishers because they see their revenue drop due to visitors that block advertisements. Websites therefore ask to whitelist their site.

The adblock plugins for the Samsung browser only work in version 4.0 which is available on Samsung phones running Android 5.0 (Lollipop).
