Again, Microsoft becomes more aggressive in nagging Windows 7 and 8.1 users to upgrade to Windows 10

Microsoft is, again, becoming more aggressive on trying to convince users to upgrade to Windows 10. The software giant now checks Windows 7 and Windows 8.1  systems twice a day for settings that disable the Windows 10 nag screens and automatically enables them again.

Users that use a tool like GWX Control Panel because they  want to block Microsoft's offers to upgrade to Windows 10 have found that the Redmond company continues to find ways to get around blocks. Microsoft continues to surprise them with a Windows 10 upgrade nag screen even if they thought they disabled them.

Previously it appeared Microsoft calmed down a bit and the company even posted a guide on their website explaining how upgrade nag screens can be hidden. However with Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 update KB3035583 Microsoft apparently changed their mind again.

Once this particular update is installed Windows will check the system twice a day for active blocks of the Windows 10 upgrade nag screen and then automatically unblocks them.

Even manual registry changes are reverted again so the Windows 10 upgrade notifications can continue to appear twice a day. This is possible because KB3035583 adds a background task that checks the system for several settings. Users that change those settings will see them reverted within 12 hours again.

It appears Microsoft is really committed about getting people to Windows 10 and leaves no method untouched to convince users to upgrade, whether they want it or not. In case of the KB3035583 update, it's even a bit sneaky. The company doesn't release new updates that enable the nag screens again, but instead it changes the initial, older update, the KB3035583 update has been changed 9 times already.

Users that want to block the updates and changes, have to manually delete the KB3035583 update. It's also possible to use a tool like GWX Control Panel to block the nag screens, but Microsoft is likely already looking for a way to get around that.
