Amazon CD mystery - Why do they sell so many CDs of $23,500

Amazon lists hundreds of CDs all sold at around $23,500 and from Japan, what's going on? A member pointed out to us that the e-commerce giant has literally thousands of CDs all with nearly the same price and all shipping from Japan. The expensive CDs are 'packed with extra care' (which is good at that price) and are usually delivered between 1 to 3 weeks.

At first we thought that the prices might be actually in Japanese Yen instead of dollars but even then the CDs are still expensive at almost $240. If it was a mistake it would be more likely that one store would make that mistake, however we found already three different stores that sell the CDs at these prices and they even seem to be competing.

For example the CD with the title Last Christmas from the artist Gary Adkins is $23, 541.76 from a Japanese Amazon shop called 'cocoricomedia' while its competitor Vision Store, also from Japan, is $1 more expensive and sells the CD at $23,542.76 . And we shouldn't forget about the shipping, both ship for $3.99. The same CD is available from CDJapan.co.jp at 1429 Yen or $14.33.

Other Amazon stores with similar prices we found are called 'popjapan', 'SimplyReliable', 'jukeboxonline', 'MoNoKoKo', 'BlueSky Store', 'digital frontier US' , 'samurai_media_JPN4US'and 'SEPT COLOEUR JAPAN' . And they don't appear to be scammers as most of them have ratings of 95% and up. The Amazon store SEPT COULEUR JAPAN is also the most expensive seller. It sells the CD titled Chikai Plegde, released this year by the artist Verge for a whopping $28,548,921.39.
