Amazon Prime Instant Video now allows offline video on SD cards

By allowing to save offline content on a SD card it should be easier to take an entire movie library or complete season of a TV serie when travelling. Because it's possible to swap SD cards the content an user can take with him is virtually unlimited. Before users could only have as much offline content as the free space on their device allowed.

The offline videos do contain DRM, once a video is started for the first time, an user can watch it for 48 hours. After that an internet connection is required to reset the rental period.

Amazon Video's Android app is not available in Google's Play Store, it has to be download through Amazon's Appstore for Android. To install that app store users have to temporarily allow installation of apps from an unknown origin.
