AMD launches Radeon R7 series SSDs - made by OCZ

AMD today announced the launch of three AMD SSDs targeted at gamers. Previously the company also released memory under its own brand and today the company adds SSDs to their lineup. The SSDs are manufactured by OCZ and besides being marketed as fast, they should also be reliable given the fact that AMD offer a four year warranty with the drives.

The three new SSDs use an OCZ developed Barefoot 3 M00 controller and Toshiba's second generation 19 nm asynchronous MLC NAND. The SSDs are targeted between the OCZ Vector 150 Series  and the OCZ Vertex 460 Series SSDs.

AMD claims the R7 SSDs can handle 30 GB of writes every day for four year long and specifies sequential reads of up to 550MB/s and sequential writes of up to 530MB/s.  Random reads are specified at up to 100K IOPS and random writes at 90K IOPS.

The R7 series consists of drives in capacities of 120GB, 240GB and 480GB with prices of respectively $100, $164, and $299.
