American police uses specially trained ‘porn dogs’ to find hidden HDDs, USB sticks and SD cards

Since a while the American police is working with specially trained ‘porn dogs’. These dogs are able to trace hidden HDDs, USB sticks and SD cards. They are mainly used to find storage mediums with child pornography, according to Jon Dumas of the Montgomery County Crime Stoppers against the American TV channel KHOU. Dumas his  organization contributed $17,000 to initially fund the canine detectives.

The dogs are trained to find a specific adhesive that is found in HDDs, USB sticks and SD cards. These mediums are often used by childporn collectors who hide them around their house.

“We have found that there have been storage devices in safes under the slab of somebody’s home, they hide it very well,” according to a policeman, whose department is receiving the animal next month.

Also Tyler Dunman, Chief Prosecutor for the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office is happy with the dogs. He told KHOU about a case where officers didn’t find anything at first, but when they took the dog in the second, it quickly found the devices they were looking for.

The dogs are called porn dogs and there are only a couple of them throughout the United States.

At first I was going to ask "Why?" Then I read it is to find child porn suspected child abusers might have hidden. I am all for going the extra mile to find evidence to lockup the lowest human scum on Earth. This makes much more sense than using FBI resources to catch movie uploaders of DVD screeners someone intercepted in the mail.

This begs the question: what if the child porn is stored on an optical disc? If someone has a secret stash of DVDs hidden beneath their floors, will the dog find them? Also, finding a device doesn't mean the police can read everything on it: if the child porn is protected via strong cryptography, what are the odds that the police can decrypt it?

At any rate, it's good that they have these dogs. The great thing about dogs is that they can't spy on millions of people in real time, while attempting to scare congress into passing laws that weaken cryptography (I assume said laws wouldn't survive in court anyway). Now, let's take down some sick criminals!

No doubt about that, I'll happily walk more than a few miles with you on this one
There is one, and only one rule:
Any form of sexuality where both parties are in it voluntary is a good form of sexuality (who am I to deprive them of their pleasure) naturally ruling out children and animals and anyone else unable to speak for themselves.

Amen!
However hard we wish, the predators have access to the same tools as the rest of us... sadly!

I believe there is a special place in Hell reserved for adults that sexually abuse, and/or murder, children. Also, one thing you don't want to be in prison is a child abuser/murderer. Even most hardened criminals have lines they will not cross and abuse of children is one of them.

I wouldn't be surprised if they have that covered. The dogs are smelling out various substances which could cover optical discs. At least I hope they are.

Few subjects makes me aggressive as I do not believe it to solve anything and in the end serves no purpose apart from making you tired.

This subject is one of the exceptions to the rule above. I love children, the most spontaneous beings on the planet and conversing with them or take part in their childish play makes me feel honored.
Yesterday I had the honor to speak for a while with two eleven year old girls and you better be prepared for any question imaginable as everything is natural. Out of the blue came the question 'What is the best way of dying?'!!!
Naturally I said of age, but oh no, that was not good enough - they started speaking of drowning, freezing to death and die in a fire (where do they get it from?) - I said that it was hard to tell but that I believed it to be drowning. Then they changed subject totally and continued to throw snowballs at each other and (naturally) I eventually became the target and was drawn into their game. How natural it all is, even dying, in a child's mind. We got so much to learn from them

Even the thought of someone depriving them of their right to mature healthy and at their own pace makes me 'see red' way above any scale for ordinary aggression, it is downright psychopathic.

I hope they train more dogs and if I may come forth with a wish for 2016 it must be that they catch each and every one of these utter low-lifes of the world

I am a father of two beautiful children so i really get the agression someone might have for such invididuals.

But be very careful what you wish for. There already have been countless of people put on the most horrible of trials just to get revenge. There are already a bazillion laws and rules made out of fear of other people.

Then again. If such a thing would happen to one of my kids i'd make pretty sure the lives of the people who really did it would end as soon as possible.
