Bitsetting & RPC1 with auto-reset firmware released for Optiarc drives

Just when optical drive firmware patching days appear to be over, our firmware patch crew Liggy and Dee have hard at work again and released new patched firmware for a range of Optiarc internal, laptop and external DVD±RW drives.

This patched firmware offers the ability to change the BitSetting of DVD+R/RW discs, adds RPC1 and region auto-reset, such that there is no limit to the number of times the drive’s region may be changed. On some drives, the patch also removes Riplock, where the drive normally limits the maximum read speed when a DVD-Video is loaded.

The following firmwares have been patched and uploaded:

  • Optiarc AD-5280S – firmware 1.01 including Bitsetting, RPC1 and Auto-Reset patch
  • Optiarc AD-5280S – firmware 1.01b including Bitsetting, RPC1 and Auto-Reset patch
  • Optiarc AD-7261S – firmware 1.Z5 including Bitsetting, RPC1 and Auto-Reset patch
  • Optiarc AD-7280S – firmware 1.01 should now also support previously unsupported drives
  • Optiarc AD-7283S – firmware 1.01 including Bitsetting, RPC1 and Auto-Reset patch
  • Optiarc AD-7283S – firmware 1.01b including Bitsetting, RPC1 and Auto-Reset patch
  • Optiarc AD-7717H – firmware 102A including Riplock, RPC1 and Auto-Reset patch
  • Optiarc AD-7740H – firmware 1.00 including Bitsetting, Riplock, RPC1 and Auto-Reset patch
  • Sony DRX-S90U firmware 1.D1 including Riplock, RPC1 and Auto-Reset patch (AD-7740H OEM drive which supports bitsetting on DVD+R and DVD+RW out of the box)
