Blind man sued for downloading porn

If you think that headline is just a crack about lawyers, think again.

One man, who's part of an aggressive case claiming he and over 3,500 other unnamed defendants illegally downloaded pornographic content, has a unique argument as to why he couldn't possibly be guilty: he can't see.

The Seattle Weekly News spoke with John Doe #2,057 about the lawsuit brought by California-based porn studio Imperial Enterprises, Inc. Unsurprisingly, he balked at the notion he was responsible.

"To be honest, it's a little ridiculous," Doe told the site. "My movie-watching ability is nonexistent." His wife confirmed her husband was indeed legally blind.

The complaint (which can be viewed here) names two films illegally shared via BitTorrent in a spat that started last December: "Tokyo Cougar Creampies" and "Teen Paradise 4." A chart presented by prosecuting attorney Ellis Bennett from the law firm Dunlap, Grubb & Weaver offered the dates and times each illegal download took place, in addition to the IP addresses of those involved. ISPs used by the suspects include Comcast, BellSouth, Optimum Online and Cox Communications.

The alleged porn pilferer explained that his only mistake was letting his wife set up a wireless router. He speculated that due to an improper set-up, a local cyber ne'er-do-well was able to hop on his internet connection and promptly download hot Japanese moms having sex with young studs.

"I was working 18-hour days so I just told my wife to go to Best Buy and pick up a router. She installed it, hit next, next, finish, and boom, that was it. We lived in a very upscale building, there was no riffraff. We just assumed we didn't have anything to worry about," he said.

That mistake will now cost him thousands of dollars whether he chooses to fight back or settle out of court - the latter, he bemoaned, the more likely option. Ironically, Doe #2,057 works in network security. (via TorrentFreak)
