Blu-ray sales increase toward holiday season

While optical discs are more and more considered outdated technology, Blu-ray (movie) sales prove they aren't. Figures released by the British Video Association reveal that Blu-ray movie sales in 2012 will see an increase over 2011. About one fifth of the annual sales of the Blu-ray movies are sold during the holiday season but Blu-ray sales are already 12.9% up on 2011 so far this year.

Not only discs see an increase in sales, also Blu-ray players are sold more than before (18%) and large flat  TV screens of 43" and up are seeing a whopping 30% increase. That sales are going up is likely due to the fact that Blu-ray hardware is getting cheaper and on large TV screens the picture quality of Blu-ray movies  is indispensable.
