The Chinese company Yuren-Jie announced that they will release a 256 GB SSDs in Q2 this year for only ¥489 which is about $79. The company name might not ring a bell but to everyone, but they are one of the worlds largest suppliers of integrated circuits for the smartphone and computer industry.

In a statement Mr. Xinpusen, CEO of the company, stated that the company will start an aggressive pricing scheme in the hope to quickly gain market share and increase production output. To achieve this, the company has built a new fab in the town of Shenzhen which is able to output more than 250,000 SSDs per day. Being located close to airport and harbour, the company ensures for rapid but also for mass world-wide distribution of their hardware.

The company is the first to use 3D NAND in such large scale. They are using Asynchronous Programming Recharging v1 NAND technology which the company developed in stealth mode. The NAND is combined with their own controller for which they have licensed technology of a 'well known controller developer'. But so far the company has not disclosed any names.

The 256GB SSDs are expected to become available at all major electronics retailers in late April. Also desktop and notebook kit versions will become available at ¥549 ($88), which is still an excellent price for a 256GB SSD. Currently the cheapest 250GB SSD is around $130.

Sales of mSATA SSDs and drives with larger capacity is expected to start in Q3/2014.

The drives should become available next month first in China and the United States, later Europe, Japan and the rest of the world should follow.

Update: As user Debro already noticed, this was our yearly April Fools joke. Our friends from Hardware.info bought it and posted about it, but their commenters were quick to find out. Beer on us if  ever meet guys! 😉 These were the hints: Yuren-Jie is translated to April Fools, Xinpusen translates to Homer Simpson and Asynchronous Programming Recharging v1 is APR1. We had a good laugh for sure, and we hope you too 😉
