Chromecast update 22062 renders device useless for many

Update 22062 for Google's streaming HDMI stick Chromecast, renders the device useless for many users. On many forums users complain  the update causes their Chromecast to be no longer recognized by the TV, the cast icon disappears from apps and some users complain about lag.

The "no signal" issues causes the Chromecast to not show anything on the TV, while it's still recognized by the Chromecast app and successfully connects to the Wifi router. Others are unable to stream e.g. Netflix content because the "cast icon" has disappeared while they are successfully connected and their Chromecast shows its signal on the TV.

Chromecast updates are released gradually causing also complaints to increase gradually. The first 22062 updates were released around the beginning of November and since then the complaints started to appear.

On the Google Product Forums several solutions have been posted by Google employees but for most users they don't appear to work. Other users report they've been in touch with Google Support and heard the company is aware of the issue. Unfortunately the support employee wasn't able to disclose what the company is planning to do to solve it.

The "no signal" issues appears to be caused because the Google Chromecast HDMI output doesn't supply sufficient energy or the right HDMI signal to the TV. The issue doesn't to be limited to a single brand, we've seen complaints of LG, Samsung, Sony and Philips TV owners.
