Coranti 2010 anti-virus, anti-spyware launched

Japan based software company, Coranti Inc, has just launched Coranti 2010 Multi-Core Anti-Virus & Anti-Spyware beta. The new software beta is available as a free download now.

According to Coranti, this software security suite is unique in that it utilizes four separate scanning engines to detect, prevent and remove malware threats from Windows PCs. The company also claims "no noticeable loss in system performance from running multiple engines".

"As no single Anti-Virus solution is able to offer outright security, Coranti goes much further to minimize the prospect of any system vulnerability with its multi-defence structure", said Charly Lippoth, President of Coranti, Inc. "With four world class scanning engines all working together in a uniform way, we are very confident that Coranti's approach will thwart the most demanding PC threats to offer absolute round the clock protection".

The minimum system requirements for using the software are published as: 1.3 GHz Intel Pentium IV processor or compatible, 512 MB of RAM, Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 operating systems (32bit/64bit) and 800 MB hard disk space.

Interestingly enough, Coranti states that it is possible to install the trial software alongside other Anti-Virus and Anti-Malware products, due to its multi-engine technology. However, it is definitely not compatible with AVG Free/Paid, Daemon Tools (and products using SPTD driver) and Zone Alarm (and products using True Vector Device Driver).

The Coranti Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware suite definitely sounds interesting, but I'd be keeping an eye on system resource usage if I were to test out the software.

The theory of "four scanning engines is better than one" seems to make sense, but as this software is brand new, I have to wonder if the detection mechanisms are up to par with the more established Anti-Virus brands. Either way, it's an intriguing concept and I'll be keeping an eye out to see if Coranti's multi scanning engine technology makes a splash in the Windows security software industry.
