Critical Java flaw remains

Following an update on Sunday to patch a critical flaw originally identified by government security experts Java users have been advised that continuing problems still render the software unsafe and open to hacking attacks.

As a temporary 'stop gap' solution Oracle has altered Java's default security settings to high which it says should highlight to users any additional applications that start running.

Suggestions elsewhere include disabling Java temporarily, completely uninstalling it, or my own personal favourite running your browser in a sandboxed session.
