Crucial cancels Ballistix TX3 NVMe SSD

Crucial's NVMe SSD which the company announced during last Computex will be cancelled. The new SSD would be sold under Crucial's Ballistix sub-brand and was scheduled for August this year.

In a statement to TechPowerUp Crucial explains that prioritizing resources and investments is the reason for the cancelling the Ballistix SSD.  The company also stated it will continue to research whether it can offer other products to gamers, where also this NVMe SSD was targeted at.

When Crucial made its announced during Computex the SSD appeared to be pretty much finished, even the packaging was finished. The drive would have been powered by a Silicon Motion SMI2260H controller combined with Micron MLC NAND memory. The Ballistix TX3  was specified to be 4x faster than SATA SSDs.
