Dell releases redesigned Inspiron notebooks

Dell refreshed its popular Inspiron line of notebooks by announcing several new products with 14-inch, 15-inch and 17-inch models expected.

The new Inspiron 14R, 15R, and 17R model notebooks are an example of Dell's latest attempt to keep up with a changing marketplace.

Dell is calling on the Intel Core i3 or i5 CPUs to power the new notebooks, with up to 8GB of DDR3 support along with up to 640GB of storage space available. The GPU consists of an ATI-based graphics processor that supports up to 1GB of RAM. A webcam is built into the notebook this time around, because Dell listened to customer complaints about having to choose it as an option.

The 15R and 17R notebooks will have 10-key number pads so gamers can set toggle keys. Furthermore, Dell included a new smudgeproof touchpad that can be more easily cleaned and cared for than their older generation touchpads.

These new models have "curvy edges" and "smooth lines" that make it more visually appealing than older Inspiron models. Dell's new colors include Peacock Blue, Mars Black, Lotus Pink and Tomato Red -- and all four colors have "chrome accents."

High-definition resolution can also be included with the new R models. The models include the Intel Wireless Display, so the notebook can be connected to a high-definition TV that supports the standard without a cable.

The new Dell Inspiron 14R, 15R and 17R notebooks should be available starting on June 25, with prices starting as low as $449.

I don't honestly like the physical design changes Dell made, but the wireless display feature is a very nice touch. I like full HD support and that the screen sizes and strong hardware specifications mean these notebooks can play movies and video games.
