Dell: Xbox One to support Windows 8 Metro applications

The Xbox One is able to run Windows 8 applications, according to Dell. Dell posted the information on a page about Microsoft's upcoming next generation console. Microsoft has not stated anything about the possibility of running Windows 8 apps on the Xbox One.

The Xbox One page on the Dell website has a paragraph about Windows 8 apps on the Xbox One:  "Consider the game officially changed. With all your favorite Windows 8 apps able to be run on and synced to your Xbox One, now your phone, desktop, tablet and TV can all give you a unified web and entertainment experience."

This probably means the synchronisation works using a Microsoft account which already makes it possible to synchronize Windows 8 applications between different devices. While Dell reports synchronizing to phones, it's unlikely that Windows 8 applications will run on a phone. Windows Phones are unable to run Windows 8 applications but several application developers have developed versions for Windows 8 and Windows Phone.

Microsoft has not confirmed the Xbox One will be able to run Windows 8 applications, if Dell is right will become clear later this year when the Xbox One becomes available.
