Demonoid BitTorrent Tracker Returns

After operating for nine years BitTorrent favourite Demonoid was unceremoniously shut down on the 7th of August 2012, having dodged a bullet on several occasions by switching server locations and ending up ultimately in the Ukraine.

More recently reports emerged of access to Demonoid's original .com, .ph, and .me domains having been restored although the .com and .ph URLs currently redirect to the .me domain (http://www.demonoid.me/) which very prominently displays the following message.

Website TorrentFreak now reports that the Demonoid tracker, http://inferno.demonoid.com:3396/announce, has now been reactivated giving access to almost 400,000 torrent files and over a million peers. The servers are now based in Sweden however rather than the Ukraine.

The persons behind this unexpected return have also issued a statement to TorrentFreak stating "I can’t give you any specifics at the moment, but yeah, we are planning to bring the site back,” so it seems that there are certainly plans for the return one of the most popular BitTorrent tracking services ever.
