DVD-Ranger raises €215 in 5 months to fund SoundTouch 3 development

DVD-Ranger's quest for funding development of his latest generation Cinavia removal solution, SoundTouch 3, is stuck at €215 ($235). The project was posted on Gofundme in May when we posted about it. The crowdfund aims to raise €76,500 ($86,000).

In May only €45 ($49) was raised and in 5 months this has increased to €215 far from the goal of €76,500. The latest donation was today, someone donated €20 to the project.

By donating the development of SoundTouch 3 should be funded. This is software that should be able to remove the Blu-ray audio watermark copy protection Cinavia without downloading a database.

In short, the developer posted a personal story in May explaining he went through a divorce and became a single father with three kids. Because of his kids he is only able to take a part-time job which he found to be low paying and without any job security. Therefore he decided that he wanted to do something that would "give him his dignity back", as he writes. It should also ensure he has enough free time to take care of his kids.

He writes that he so far created with SoundTouch 2 a "state of the art" software product which has been successful so far but needs to be redeveloped. To do so, he has to invest his personal resources and because he is short of funding, he is asking for money.

Apparently the requested €76,500 should be sufficient for further development of SoundTouch 3.

In this case donating doesn't mean you won't get something in return, everyone who donates gets a CineX HD Utility license for free.
