DVD-Ranger releases CinEx 5.2.2.8 - beats new copy protection

The developers from DVD-Ranger released a new version of their software including their Cinavia Blu-ray copy protection circumventing module, CinEx. Version 5.2.2.8 contains an updated CinEx module and also deals with an, according to the developers, new copy protection. The developers state on their website, "After a long investigation we found out a new copy protection that force unsync video files (sic)".  Besides the updated CinEx module and the fix for this new protection, also the help file was updated.

Besides this update the company also recently announced two companies have licensed their technology which will likely ensure the development of the module is secured. The company also recently posted a blog titled "Where are the leaders" in which they state they wonder why other companies haven't released a Cinavia solution. For "people who are disappointed by DVDFab, AnyDVD and Xilisoft", they currently offer the CinEx module for $10 extra. The DVD-Ranger license is currently $89.99 and DVD-Ranger with a CinEx lifetime license is currently $99.99.

Cinavia is a copy protection for Blu-ray that is mandatory on Blu-ray players since 2012. The protection is based on a watermark that is embedded in the audio stream of a Blu-ray movie. Blu-ray players, both hardware and software contain a Cinavia detector that checks for a valid watermark. If not found because e.g. someone tries to playback a backup of a movie, the audio is muted after 20 minutes and a Cinavia message will appear. Recent versions of the protection might also prompt the user to purchase a legitimate version online.

The CinEx module from DVD-Ranger has proven to successfully remove the Cinavia protection but had a drawback, the audio quality has been degraded. The company promises that future releases, like this one will improve the audio quality while the Cinavia protection is removed.
