DVD-Ranger releases info on CinEx HD - improved Cinavia removal

The developers of DVD-Ranger used the first Christmas day to release additional information about their Cinavia removal module, CinEx. The software has now been renamed to CinEx HD and promises excellent audio quality with total removal of the Cinavia Blu-ray protection.

According to the developers we should expect no sync issues, no echos, no effects, no winch and no speed shift.  According to one of the developers CinEx HD is, "a database driven CinEx that removes Cinavia completely from all bands and allow so a christal [sic] clear audio".

We've also received an AAC audio sample that sounds pretty good, but so far we haven't been able to verify whether the original contained Cinavia and if Cinavia has now really been completely removed. The track record of DVD-Ranger proofs that the developers are able to remove Cinavia. We verified that a previous version of CinEx actually removed Cinavia, but with the removal also the audio quality was heavily degraded.

Previously a mysterious user popped up on our website, claiming he had a method to remove Cinavia. This method has been verified but the user also disappeared again. His reasons are known to Myce staff. We hope his method will now be incorporated in new software products.

The Cinavia copy protection is embedded in the audiotrack of a Cinavia protected movie  Hardware and software players contain a Cinavia watermark detector  which decides if the movie is legitimate or not. While Verance, the company developing it, claims it doesn’t affect the quality of the audio, others disagree.

The degradation of the audio  is a reason to try to find a method to remove the signal from audio tracks. Another reason is that Cinavia prevents  playback of Blu-ray backups. The protection will detect playback of the backup and will mute the audio after 20 minutes while showing a Cinavia warning prompting the user to get a legal copy of the movie.

Also pirates start to encounter Cinavia more and more as it’s also designed to stop illegal movie sharing. The Cinavia detector can also be found in the next generation consoles, the Xbox One and the Playstation 4.

After the final release of CinEx, the software will require a monthly subscription. Currently it's possible to obtain a lifetime license for $99.00.
