DVD-Ranger removes Cinavia from 8 more movies - adds databases again

The developers of DVD-Ranger have released  eight new database files for their Cinavia Blu-ray copy protection removal software CinEx HD. On the database download page, DVD-Ranger has now 91 databases listed as available and besides the possibility to download the databases it's also possible to get all databases on a DVD.

The databases released yesterday are:

  • Higher Ground , US, English track only
  • Premium Rush – This Is Us, US, English track only
  • That’s My Boy, US, English track only
  • Stalingrad(2013), US, English track only
  • Jodorowsky’s Dune, US, English track only
  • The Lunchbox, US, Hindi track only
  • Gambit, US, English track only
  • The Raid 2, US, English track only

So far DVD-Ranger CinEx HD is the only software that allows you to remove the Cinavia Blu-ray audio watermark from movies but the software has always been controversial on this site. There's been a lot of discussion on the database files since Myce readers found out that the databases contain audio in certain frequencies.

The readers that have been investigating the databases assume that CineX HD might replace the audio of Blu-ray movies with audio from a source that never had Cinavia on it. Many movies are released on both Blu-ray and DVD and often either has an audio-track that is not Cinavia protected. According to the developers of DVD-Ranger this is nonsense and they claim they actually do remove Cinavia from audio tracks. They claim the databases are only made available to decrease the processing time of the Cinavia removal.

On their website they write about this, the databases contain, "restoring information in binary code"  and on another part of their site they write, "this [sic] database files contain a small noise audio file that DVD-Ranger will mux regulary [sic] into the final video."

Nevertheless, although we don't know how it works, DVD-Ranger CinEx HD does the trick.  If you've stumbled upon movies protected by Cinavia and you want to make a backup then the software have been proven to work well.

After the final release of CineX HD, the software will require a monthly subscription. Currently it’s possible to obtain a lifetime license for $69.99.
