Elitebytes releases VeloSSD 2.0.0.6 – makes your PC faster

09 Jul 12 18:35 by in category Software, Solid State (ssd)

Our German friends from Elitebytes have released a new version of their SSD disk caching solution VeloSSD. The software uses a SSD as a large cache. If you would like to know how it works and what the advantages are, then read this well written explanation by our Senior Administrator Seán but the general idea is that it makes your computer faster. The latest version is now 2.0.0.6 and here is the changelog:

Changelog (v 2.0.06):

  1. Write stress hardened. Crystal Diskbench was executed 45 times in a row. There was nothing unusual to expect or detect.
  2. Issues preventing a machine to start were researched and fixed.
  3. One very big issue was that of a user reporting boot hang after installation. The software was changed to detect and neutralize this missbehaviour.
  4. Removable Storage is not longer allowed as cache for Boot Volumes
  5. A warning was added before a boot volume cache is created.
  6. The minimal cache size is now 8GB.

If you would like more information, then head over to the original announcement of EliteBytes where you can also find a download link.

Documentation for this software is sorely lacking. I am the user who had the Windows hanging issue. I could find nothing on the web site to help me (fortunately, I had an image backup and was able to restore my system in 40 minutes). FAQs and user forums are nice, but nothing beats a well written user manual that is either included with the distribution, or is available for download or viewing from the builder's web site.
